Many elements
of the State of Wisconsin government are involved in international
activities. For some, it is their primary function.
Others have duties
that may not initially seem to have an international aspect, but
knowledge of events and counterparts in other countries helps them
better serve the citizens of the state. Here is a list of
state agencies
and their representatives to the Inter-Agency Work Group that works to
coordinate the state's international activities:
Wisconsin
Department of Commerce (COMMERCE)
COMMERCE
provides
development assistance in areas such as marketing,
business and community finance, exporting, small business advocacy,
and manufacturing assessments. The agency also issues
professional credentials for the construction trades and administers
safety and building codes. It also regulates petroleum products and
tank systems and administers the Petroleum Environmental Clean-up Fund.

Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP)
DATCP inspects
and licenses more than 100,000 businesses and individuals,
analyzes millions of laboratory samples, conducts hundreds of hearings
and investigations, educates businesses and consumers about best
practices,adopts rules that have the force of law, and promotes
Wisconsin agriculture at home and abroad.

of Public Instruction (DPI)
DPI provides
direction and technical assistance for public elementary
and secondary education. The department offers a range of
programs and professional services to local school administrators and
faculty. It distributes state school aids and administers

aids to supplement local tax resources, improves curriculum and school
operations, and develops school and public library resources.

supports all forms of transportation. The department is responsible for
planning, building and maintaining Wisconsin's network of state

highways to public transit and other modes. DOT plans, promotes and
financially supports statewide air, rail and water transportation, as
well as bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

DFI is committed
to protecting Wisconsin consumers
of financial services
and to ensuring the soundness of the state's financial institutions.

agency regulates and licenses more than 103,000 financial service
providers who do business in Wisconsin including mortgage
banker/brokers, loan officers, securities representatives, and credit
unions.
